{WCEA Camera logo} In late December 2008, Wayne County Public Schools began beta-testing Goldsboro/Wayne County's first ever Education Access Channel. The district tested slides and video programs over the course of several weeks. On February 18, 2009, the district held a “throwing of the switch” ceremony to officially turn the channel on.
The Wayne County Education Alliance Channel, or WCEA Channel, is an innovative way for the school district to offer programming geared towards helping boost academic achievement for students. The education access channel was made available to Wayne County Public Schools by the City of WCPS Public Information Officer Ken Derksen shown producing videos for the WCEA Channel
The WCEA Channel is managed and operated by Wayne County Public Schools. Through the
district’s educational partnerships, an “Education Alliance” with Since 2004, WCPS has been partnered with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in the Military Child Education Coalition. With over 2,000 military dependents enrolled in our schools, students and staff can benefit from programming that deals with military issues such as deployments, homecomings, and moving transitions. To help meet the educational needs of the county’s growing Hispanic population, the WCEA Channel also provides some programming in Spanish. |
