I believe video games have positive and negative effects. Just like the saying,"To much of a good thing is a bad thing," video games, if played for hours on end can be a bad thing. They are helpful to people who are using them for educational or rehabilitaionaly purposes. Video games can also take away from a child's education. Often times teenagers and children neglect their school work to play video games for hours and hours. Another negative effect is that childern eat unhealthy due to video games. Children choose to eat junk food while playing video games instead of making healthy eating choices. Children who play video games often become obese because of their lack of healthy food choices.

I believe video games has both negative and positive effects on young children. For example my little bother has a wii game and he plays on it everyday. And from what I seen with my own eyes it has good positive effects on it. How? because it works with his brain helps him do more active stuff. On the other hand their are negative effects into games. For example my babyfather sister son has a x-box and when I was babysitting him I watched him play his game in it was rated r. And the game had shooting, cursing, and just a lot of negative effects in the game in I thought it was not fit for him. And he isn't nothing but 7yrs. old.

I think children playing video games to often has a negative affect to a certain extent.I say this because playing video games make children not be more active, not participate in after school programs, not excercise thoroughly & they dont really have a life outside of the video games. For example, my friend sarah has a 10 year old brother and he is completely addicted to video games his mom have a hard time trying to get him out the house,he barely completes homework & he has gain 10 pounds in the last month because, all he want to do is sit and play video games & she is afraid that he will become obese.

I think that video games have positive and negative effect on some people who take video games a little to serious. I mean some games can help learning easy and fun but other's grand theft auto games. Grand theft auto games show u can walk up to any car and just take it and also walk up to any person an kill them and take their money an stuff someone mit take it serious where they mit try it in the real world ;I know this cab happen because it happen to my friend cody. But their are people out their that can enjoy those types of games without trying it in the real world and won't take it serious they mit be serious playing it just not serious about taking it in the real world. Mostly young teen age boys play video games which their playing video games they probably eat junk food and their not being active and that can effect their heath but also not all boys do it because I konw two boys who play video games and still go outside and play basketball and football my friends Ronald and Jordan.

For example; My brother he play his playstation three from 3:00 TO ABOUT 10:00. I think dats not good. It's destroying his brain. On the other hand games are positive. For example; My niece have leap frog at home and she also have a dora the explorer game, which i think is good because, its helpin her with her vocabulary, alphabets, numbers and etc...

Many poeple have very different opinions on wether video games are good for children.I think they have more positive than negative effects mostly because there are many different types of games. For example,i grew up playing NBA Live games and that made me want to watch the real games on television.Doing all that has made me want to play basketball in my future, and it all started by playing basketball video games. My nephew loves basketball, football, and baseball by just wathcing people play the actual games, and he is only going on about three years old.My niece is only six years old and she plays leapfrog games and many other different educational games in order to grow her sense of knowledge. In essence, video games have many positive effects on children.

I think video games are good for kids. Its just the violence thats not good. Video games cathes kids attention and keeps them focus, for a child that has a hard time keeping focus this may be the answer. Also a bad thing may be that while playing video games the child might miss a meal playing games or turn to junk food instead of eating the right foods.
My brother loves his xbox 360,and he always plays Grand theft auto 4. the violence in that game is unbearable. No little child should play a game like that but many parents are letting their kids play the game. My brother is a grown man who knows right from wrong so the video game will not affect him like it does little kids. He knows not to beat up old ladys or bump into others cars on the road or be violent. But a little kid who knows no better will act on the violence choices he sees being made on that tv screen.
Video games are good for certain age groups.little kids should stick to leapfrog and learn out to count and read. Teenagers who kno right from wrong and can actually tie their shoes should play these video games. But hey......this was just my opinion

I think that video games have both positive and negative effects because it is apart of entertainment. Some video games are made to play for fun like Pac-Man. But on the other hand some video games have way to much violence in it. Which can inspire little kids into wanting to do the wrong thing. While on the other hand video games can also be a way of learning for children. Like for an example Leap-Frog help children learn how to count and read.Nevertheless video games have a huge impact worldwide because they allow people to gat together and have fun.So to me video games can either be very helpful in ways but lead children in the wrong directions in other ways.

My little sister trinity plays leap frog and she is now learning hoe to say letters and shes only one.i play the wii and the wii keeps me active with out going outside and it's just a very fun game system. In hospitals they sometimes use the wii to keep old people active and moving around therefore, the wii is good for people of all ages.

I think that video games can be accepted in a positive in negative way. Some parents don't let there kids play 18+ games because, they have a lot of violence. For example san andreas is a game that you get involve in drugs, gangs, sex and even bad girls go wild on the streets. This game show people what would you go through if you get involve in the situation CJ(MAIN CHARACTE IN THE GAME)went through on the game.A postive game that i played that you will have fun wth is a college football game, for people that love the game of football. I think this will be a good game for younger in older people because, it show you the real world when you coming from high school, college and nfl. This game is everything like college you have homework, practice, after school events in others. While you in high school scouts come watch you play in all games. To keep playing in college on the game you will have to keep a GPA OF A 2.5 IN HIGHER.

I think video games are positive and negative, depending on what type of game it is. For example: Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row, they have negative properties for children like gangs, shooting, killing, and robbery. Them are the bad games but they are the best sellers besides sports. Sports games like Fight Night Round 4 and Madden NFL are good for all people. They do not have shooting and killing, all they have is strageties. They test people and people and their mind for challenges. Now Roll Playing Games (RPG) are the puzzle games. Games like Legend Of Zelda, them kind of games give your brain a headache because u go through different levels and solve riddles and puzzles that are challenging to the mind.

A negivite aspect that video games could cause is a addiction . Playings video games 24/7 would cause a lacking in grades and school activities . Some games have violence that is not good for children to begin to learn . This is why i believe the video games could be not only positive but negitive also .

And I think video games have a postive effect as well because my little brother have a leap frog and it helps stimulate his brain till the point he is doing very good in school.

I believe that video games have more negative than positive effects on children. For example: "Leap Frog" helps a child read and count. There's Only a few video games that helps a child with their learning skills, and thats one of them. I believe the following list of games have a negative effect:"Head busters","Grand Thieft",and "True Crime". These games have a negative effect because it shows young children how to shoot, kill, and steal cars. Young children should be learning how to do get along with others, not to kill others. These video games are trying to make children believe that this kind of crime is ok when it's really not!

I agrree that video games have a positive affect on teenagers. They can learn from video games like leap frog. It helps them learn how to spell and write sentences. It also helps with their vocabulary, and words of speech. Video games also have a negative affect on teenagers and young children. Games that have shooting and foul language sets a bad example for them. after playing the game for a certain amount of time young kids start to copy the game. they do this because this is what the game teaches them.

In my opinion, video games have a negative effect on young children and teenagers. Many video games depict alot of violence and strong language. In the very popular Grand Theft Auto game series, they even take it as far as sexual content. Games, such as these, influence the way children speak, and the way they behave. Many people may argue that there are educational video games that are very useful when raising small children. But if they're just going to grop up and play video games that teach you how to buy weapons, then what's the use?

I think video games can have positive effects on children. Video games can make a child's hand coordination exceptional. There's this new tecnology out that requires great hand coordination, da Vinci Surgical System. The tools for this system are like joysticks. As you know, a joystick is used for video games. Not all video games entertain minds. They can teach children how to read, count, and distinguish between colors. Leap Frog particularly, teaches the young mind things to be taught in school. It also broadens their imagination. Video games, yes, can be negative but their are a lot of positive ones as stated.

On the downside the negative effects are prevolent in a teenagers life. The games most appealing to teens are ridden with violence seen everywhere in today's society.

I believe that the effects of video games are only as big as you let them be. For instance, if you bought the child nothing but fighting games then the child would think of nothing but fighting. Therefore, the response would more than likely come back negative. Needless to say, that if you buy the child nothing but sports games, then the child would only think about sports. So in theory I would say that it all depends on Exactly what the games are. For example, if a child played nohting but games dealings with demons and bizarrre animals; then the effect might go both ways. The child might grow up to be a great artist, but also might serve the devil or some other demonic being. So the effects of the games, all boils down to what kind of games are being played on a daily bases. Furthermore I believe that the parents should balance the games out and get their kids a little bit of everything.

Video games have a positive and negative effect.A positive examples are it helps kids learn and brainstorm on the game. Like when you do missions on a game you have to concentrate and pay close attention just like what you do in school. On the other hand a negative example of it is some kids when they play video games they want to go out in the community or in the world to do the same thing they saw on the game. That’s why some kids or teens especially shouldn’t be able to buy games that not in their age limit and kids shouldn’t be able to buy games that over their age limit.

In my opinion, video games are negative and harmful.
The reason I say that is because they take up all of your time that you could be using for other things. One example I have are my two little sisters. THey both have Nintendo DSI's, and they play them non stop. My mother made a statment saying if anyone of us made anything lower than a C she was going to take away our electronic devices. One of my little sisters made a D on their report card, and my moter took her DSI away. So Therefore, video games have a neagative effect on students.

Video games have positive and negative effects. A lot of people think that video games have more negative effects than positive. One main reason is that video games are addictive. This is very common with with teens and kids. Parents often worry about their kids being addicted. If a child brings home a Playstation 3, thay might play it for hours. As a result, they will miss out on their homework, they won't exercise, and they might miss some great things in the world. Although they are many negatives, there are positives. Video games can teach children. For example, Vtech is a very educational game for kids that are about to start preschool. This will help kids be more familiar with the lessons.

So whether its a leap frog, v-tech, or Nitendo Wii tese are the game systems that make a good name for technology.

I feel kids 14 or under shouldn't play that because they might think thats what they have to do to surive in life. And another game is Def Jam Icon that has alot of cursring and fighting and kids dont need to play that. A positive game is Gutiar Hero because if you want to make music when you get older you can play that game. Like myself i want to make music when i get older so i play Gutiar Hero because it shows me how to use a Gutiar. And The Sims is positive because it shows you how life is gonna be on your own. And it shows you what to do and not to do in life.

I played them for minutes and hours at a time. This got my behind in my classes and activities. In about a month of playing games, my grades dramaticlly dropped and I didn't know anything in my classes. The cause4 of this was video games. On the other hand I've seen the positive side too. For example my little neice, who is startintg kindergarden hads a a video game called Learfrog. This is a educational game that helps her withe her numbers and numbers. She plays it all the time and I noticed that her grades improved and she has a A+ in all her classes. This aguement goes both ways.
