From the Desk of the Principal...
Happy Fall!
The first nine-week grading period has ended and Student Report Cards were distributed on Friday, October 31st.  Parents, if you did not receive a report card for your child, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.  Our first Academic Awards Assembly will be held on Thursday, November 13th for 5th and 6th grade students and Friday, November 14th for 7th and 8th grade students.  Notices will be sent home with students who will be recognized for their academic and behavioral successes.  Parents, please come and celebrate your child!
Congratulations to our Dillard Middle School Football team and coaches!  An undefeated season!  Go Tigers!  Basketball season will begin very soon. Congratulations also goes to our Dillard Middle School Tiger Command Chorus and our music department for an awesome debut performance!  Go Tigers!   The Holiday Choral Showcase held at Goldsboro High School will be December 2nd for our students.
Our school celebrates our Students of the Month who exhibit the Tiger ROAR Pledge!  Check out our photos under our PBIS link! Our students who demonstrated PBIS expectations participated in our first nine-week school-wide PBIS celebration during the NC State Fair field trip.  Thank you to the staff and students who were a part of that recognition.
We also celebrate our teachers!  Congratulations to Ms. Rachel Mays who was selected by her peers as Teacher of the Month for September 2014. Congratulations to Ms. Mabel Lamprea who is the recipient of a Bright Ideas Grant for her Student Club, Money Brains!  Two years in a row as the recipient of a Bright Ideas Grant for Ms. Lamprea.  Her 2013 Bright Ideas winner, Team Zombie, was highlighted on the Bright Ideas website for Halloween!
The school thanks our Partners-in-Education for their support of our students, staff and families.  We welcome our new partner, Men Who Care Globally, who are already involved and making a difference.  We hope you had an opportunity to see them on their October 18th Community Walk....making a presence and a difference for our school and our community. Thank you to Rosewood Walmart for their recognition of twenty teachers who were presented gift cards and also for the classroom supplies given to the staff.  We also thank our returning partners who have supported the beginning of our school year with school supplies for students, classroom supplies for staff, and special treats for the faculty.  We are so appreciative of your belief in our school and the community.
Parents....we welcome your input as we continually strive to become a GREAT middle school.  We need your support for academics and social expectations.  Please be a part of our child's school life.  Join us at our next Parent Teacher Organization meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th at 5:00 p.m. at the Community Crisis Center on South Slocumb Street.  A meal will be provided and the Dillard Middle School chorus will perform.  You must indicate your intention to attend in order for food preparation.  Blue PTO notices have been sent home with your child.  Complete these forms and return to school.  If you did not recieve a notice, then contact Ms. Linda Jones, our Parent Involvement Coordinator.
As always, contact the school's administration if you have concerns, questions, or comments. We are a big part of your child's life and we understand that we must work together in order for your child to be as successful as possible!
