Welcome to the world of FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE!
 
FOODS 1 examines the nutritional needs of the individual.  Emphasis is placed on the relationship of diet to health, kitchen and meal management, basic food preparation and sustainability for a global society, and time and resource management.  Skills in science, reading, and mathematic literacy are reinforced in this course.  Foods 1 is the pre-requisite to Foods 2 (the cooking class). 
 
FOODS 2 is the completer course for Foods 1.  This course consists of three components:
1- ServSafe - Students will receive the nation's leading food safety training and certification program, with the opportunity to become SerfSafe Certified. 
2- Entrepreneurship - Students will apply the principles of marketing and small business operations to establish a business plan.  A presentation and product sample are required.
3- Advanced Food Preparation - Students will master the art of baking, knife skills, and garnishing.  This part of the curriculum builds on what was learned in Foods 1.
