Happy Spring to Dillard Middle School Stakeholders!

We have just finished the 3rd nine-weeks of school in the 2012-2013 school year.  Report cards for this academic period will go home on Friday, April 12th.  Families are encouraged to review their child's report card and contact their child's teachers for academic concerns.  As always, it is so important that home and school closely communicate in order for our students to be as successful as they can be.
With the Spring weather upon us, it is important that our students at Dillard Middle School continue to adhere to the WCPS Standard Dress Code policy.  Male students must have shirts tucked in their pants and must wear a belt in pants with loops.  Female students must adhere to the dress code policy regarding the length of their skirts, dresses and shorts (no more than 3 inches above the knee) and no sleeveless shirts or tops.
Our school's Parent Teacher Organization continues to be very supportive of our students and staff.  The March 2nd Spring Festival was a lot of fun and a successful day for everyone.  A big thank you to the PTO, the students and their families and the staff who made the day so successful.  The PTO Executive Board is busy planning for the last nine weeks of this school year.  Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00 p.m.  Make plans to be at this meeting.
The renovation for our Dillard Middle School auditorium is almost complete.  Plans are being made for an event to officially "cut the ribbon" on our new auditorium!  Look for the information.  Our school's new security doors are installed and activated.  This is another step in our ongoing effort to provide a safe and secure environment for all of our stakeholders.  We appreciate your patience and understanding in this process as you may be asked to wait momentarily for access to our building.
The STEM learning environment is almost finished.  This classroom has been undergoing many renovations and the new computers and lab equipment will be delivered very soon.  This is an exciting opportunity for our students to develop important skills and knowledge as they are becoming Future-Ready Middle School students.
As always, we are so thankful for your continued support of our school and the instructional programs for your child.  The staff continue to be involved in professional development activities to ensure that all students are receiving instruction in a 21st Century educational environment. Middle school is a challenging time for students as they are becoming teenagers and moving toward young adulthood.  They want their independence yet need so much guidance in the decisions they are faced with as a middle school student.   We need your help and your collaboration with us.  Help us to help your child.  Please come and visit and talk with your child's teachers as we begin the last nine weeks of the 2012-2013 school year.  My door is always open!
