Hello Dillard Middle School Students and Families,
Happy New Year to the Dillard Team! It is my wish for you and yours that your 2014 will be a blessed and successful year for you and your family. The staff are ready to begin in this new year and are continually pushing their students to follow school-wide ROAR expectations and to continually be the best students they can be, both academically and socially. Thank you for your support as together we strive for the same goal....successful students.
The first semester of the 2013-14 school year is coming to a close! The last day of this semester and the end of the second grading period for students is January 15, 2014. Parents, please make sure that you are current with your child's progress and grades. Ask your child if all necessary assignments and projects have been completed and submitted to their teachers. Report cards for this grading period and the first semester will go home with students on Friday, January 24th. If you do not receive a report card for your child, then please contact your child's teacher or the school's front office. I encourage all of our families to be involved with their child's academic level. Do not let yourself be surprised at the end of the school year!
NC School Report Cards will go home with all WCPS students on January 28th. All schools in NC will send home a snapshot version of their individual school's NC Report Card. This report card will give detailed information about our school including student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety and teacher quality. Please ask your child about this important piece of information. Often the numbers that are reflected in these statewide reports do not give the full picture of what is positive and growing in our school. We are proud of the student growth in many areas at our school and we want you to also be proud. If you have any questions or concerns after reviewing this NC Report Card for our school, then please contact me.
We continue to ask your support with sending your child to school on time, dressed appropriately for school and prepared for each day. Students are considered tardy at 7:40 a.m. and must report to the Choice Room if it is an unexcused tardy. Tiger Time is an important time of the day for remediation and enrichment and your child needs to be at school ready to participate and progress. A reminder...students are not allowed to wear coats and jackets in the school building. This is a Board of Education policy. All student coats and jackets must be removed while in the school building. If there is a problem with heating in the school, then those considerations are handled. Please support us and help us to follow the guidelines placed on us by our WCPS Board of Education.
Come and be a part of our school. Join us at a basketball game. Support us at our concerts. The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m. Take an active role in your child's time with us....they need you in Middle School...and so do we!
