Enrichment and Leadership Opportunities

NC Community Development INITIATIVE - rising seniors!
Youth leadership opportunity:
* 5-week, full-time internship at a host non-profit organization in the students community from June 14th to July 27th
* $2,250 stipend, paid by the NC Community Development Initiative
* Selected students will attend 3 overnight sessions for leadership development training and mentorship in RTP
*Materials are available on our website at www.initiative.org.  Selections and placements will be announced on or before May 4, 2018.  
Applications must be submitted online by April 2, 2018.

Governor's School of North Carolina 
Summer residential program for gifted and talented rising seniors located at two different college campuses. Students must be nominated by their school to attend. 

Martha Guy Summer Institute 
Three week summer experience at Appalachian State University that gives students a chance to explore different disciplines within business, exposes them to regional business leaders and develops leadership and professional behavior skills needed to be successful in the business realm.

North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM)
A residential public high school for academically talented 11th and 12th graders who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math. 
Deadline to apply: January 15, 2018

Summer Ventures
Four week, no-cost summer program on a college campus for rising 11th and 12th graders interested in science, technology, engineering and math research. 
Deadline to apply: January 15, 2018

Duke Summer Session
Several opportunities for high school students to experience college life over the summer in both credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing programs. 
Application opens in December 

Broyhill Leadership Conference
A Leadership Conference  for rising 10th-12th graders and current year high school graduates who are interested in finding out how to make a difference in the world using their unique skills and personality.

Youth Shelton Challenge
A six-day summer experience for rising 9th- 12th graders. Shelton’s five cornerstones of values-based leadership—honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity and social responsibility—are the foundations of the camp. The core curriculum focuses on Personal Leadership Assessment and Interpersonal Dynamics, Role of Values and Ethics in Leadership, Leadership Traits and Approaches, Teambuilding and Empowering Others, Social Responsibility, Public Speaking, and Goal Setting.

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies
Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institute is a three-week summer residential program held on Stanford's campus that provides academically talented and intellectually curious students currently in grades 8–11 with intensive study in a single course.
