German philosopher Georg Hegel's preferred method of logic was the dialectic: the method was based on the notion that an idea or event (the thesis) brings about its opposite (the antithesis).


Attention all students and staff, the JROTC will display "No Texting and Driving" exhibits this Friday during all four lunches in the Old Gym Lobby.  As we prepare to go into this three day weekend come by and visit the exhibits and take the pledge not to Text and Drive.  We will conduct and videotape "No Texting and Driving Pledge Ceremonies" every 5 minutes and post the videos on our school website. We encourage students to bring a staff member with them to take the pledge.    

Speech/Language Clinic @ East Carolina University 

This is a summer program specializing in the treatment and management of stuttering. Clinic dates: June 15-July 2, ages 15 & older. Cost of the program is $400. For more information or an application, stop by the Counseling Office.


All girl track members must turn in your uniforms to Coach Rhodes during your lunch before Friday May 22


Attention Seniors!  Make plans to stop by the Counseling Services table at the senior picnic to get your free hotdog, chips and cookie.  We will also be handing out graduation gifts and providing photo props to capture the memories of this special day.

Seniors!  The deadline for the Cooley Educational Scholarship has been extended to May 28th.  You must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and plan to attend a 4-year university to become a teacher.  See Ms. Diggs for this application.

Continuing Announcements

Extra copies of the 2015 yearbook are still available for $75. CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY AT THIS POINT! (run May 22nd – May 28th)


All students should clean out their lockers over the next couple of weeks in preparation for the end of school.  Take home or discard any items that will not be needed for classes or your exams.  Homeroom teachers, please check your students' lockers before exams begin. (run May 22nd – June 2nd)


Attention students in grades 9-11.   You must bring your homeroom teacher a stamped envelope to have have your final report card mailed.  Write your name on the back of the envelope.  If you do not bring in a stamped envelope, your report card will NOT be mailed.  You or your parent must pick it up from the office this summer.  (run May 22nd – June 2nd)


Volunteer Opportunity!!! The Born Learning: Young Children's Festival held at Herman Park is looking for volunteers to work booths, inflatables, refreshments, etc. The festival is Saturday, June 6th from 10am - 2pm.
