Dear Seniors and Parents/Guardians,
This is a very exciting time for Seniors with the graduating ceremony around the corner, marking the next stage in their journey in life, but before that special moment the Graduation Project needs to be completed. It has come to the Graduation Committee’s attention that few Seniors have completed their Graduation Project. This exit standard is required for all students in the district to complete before graduating by Wayne County Public Schools. Information on this project is available on the
The Graduation Project has four required components. The research paper must be 6-10 pages using MLA format. Students need to get their topic approved before starting on research paper. The product is created by the student and relates to the research paper. Examples of products are available on the website in the graduation packet. The portfolio is a learning record of the student’s progress, like a journal tracking what the student did each step of the project. The last component is the oral presentation. The student will present their research in front of a panel of community members. First round will begin in December, sign up for times and date will be made available soon.
Please take this project serious. There is no need to jeopardize graduating due to noncompliance. Students were informed of the Graduation Project from the very beginning (FALL 2006)—website, Cougar TV, homeroom teacher, English teacher, and assemblies. There are resources in place that students can take advantage of, which includes their English teacher, Graduation Project Coordinator, website and homeroom teacher. Many teachers have served or are serving on the Graduation Committee and are a great source of information.
