Last fall, Mr. Blair began the year as a new scholastic director for NCASA, leading the middle and high school scholastic programs at his school. He was among 50 nominees statewide for the award.

In his nomination, NCASA stated that Mr. Blair took on a shared leadership approach by including more teachers in the sponsorship of the programs and maintaining student involvement in NCASA competitions. It is worth noting, under Mr. Blair’s leadership, Wayne School of Engineering became the first school in the history of NCASA to finish in the top-three of both the NCASA Challenge Cup and NCASA Scholastic Cup standings. The two programs are point based, with students earning points through a myriad of academic and subject area focused activities conducted at the regional and state levels.

“It is rewarding to see an educator receive state recognition for their efforts to engage and challenge students in academic and extracurricular activities,” states Dr. Michael Dunsmore, WCPS Superintendent. “We congratulate Mr. Blair for his achievement, and commend him for his efforts to support teaching and learning at his school through the North Carolina Scholastic program.”
