On Monday afternoon, Dr. Patrice Faison, arrived at Carver Heights Elementary to meet with her staff for the first time. Dr. Faison, a 22 year veteran of public education, was recently hired by the Wayne County Board of Education to lead school improvement efforts at Carver Heights Elementary.
“I have had a wonderful start,” stated Dr. Faison. “I am truly impressed about how accommodating and nice everyone has been. The staff is excited and seems to be ready for the challenge. I really felt a sense of dedication and determination. We vowed together to let the growth data do the talking in May.”
Following her staff meeting, the former 2012-2013 North Carolina Principal of the Year shared a welcoming message with parents through the automated call system as part of her efforts to keep families informed about the ongoing changes taking place at the school.
“Dr. Faison is a dynamic experienced school turnaround leader who has spent the past week working with my senior leadership in preparation for this transition,” stated Dr. Dunsmore, superintendent. “She has hit the ground running, diving deep into student and staff data and building strategic goals to advance improvement. Dr. Faison has also begun the process of building engagement by making community connections and taking steps to strengthen partnerships between parents and the school.”
On Thursday, November 8, a Meet & Greet event will be held in the Carver Heights Elementary gymnasium from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. The event will allow Dr. Faison the opportunity to formally introduce herself and take a few minutes to talk about her vision and plans moving forward. Following formal comments, Dr. Faison will be available to engage and talk with those who come out.
