WCPS Announces New Goldsboro High Principal
On Tuesday, June 25, the Wayne County Board of Education named Greenwood principal, Ryan Nelson, the new principal for Goldsboro High. He is replacing Christopher Horne who resigned earlier this month.
Mr. Nelson has served in his present position since July 2017. Mr. Nelson has over 12 years school administration experience and a total of 19 years education experience. Prior to joining Greenwood Middle, he served as an assistant principal at Southern Wayne High, Eastern Wayne High and North Drive Elementary. He spent his first six years in education teaching language arts and social studies at Brogden Middle. Mr. Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a middle grades teaching certification in social studies and language arts, and a master’s degree in school administration.
“In addition to having a diverse background and over a decade of school administration experience, Mr. Nelson brings with him a strong familiarity with Goldsboro and Wayne County,” states Dr. Michael Dunsmore, WCPS Superintendent. “We believe Mr. Nelson will bring needed administrative stability to the school. My administrative team looks forward to working with Mr. Nelson and his staff to continue moving Goldsboro High forward.”
Mr. Nelson will begin his new role July 1, 2019. No replacement has been named for principal of Greenwood Middle.
