  • Finance Officer

    Earlier this month, WCPS announced that Nan Barwick, Assistant Superintendent for Fiscal Services would retire at the end of June. Beverly Boltinhouse, a veteran WCPS teacher with 34-years of combined business and education experience, is now transitioning to her new role as the district’s new Finance Officer.

  • Scholarships & Aid

    Hundreds of WCPS graduates are now gearing up to attend college in the fall. Fortunately for many, financial aid and scholarships awarded before graduation will lighten the costs to further their education.

  • Retiree Reception

    After many years of dedicated service to WCPS, 62 retiring employees were recently recognized at the district’s annual Retiree Appreciation Reception, held at the Goldsboro Country Club.

  • NSPRA Golden Achievement Award

    This week, WCPS received notice that it earned a National School Public Relations Association 2014 Golden Achievement Award, the second highest national honor given by the association.

  • Summer Flex Schedule

    With commencement ceremonies now over and all of the district’s students out for the summer, next week WCPS will begin its annual summer flex schedule. From June 16 through August 15, the district will operate on a 10-hour day/four-day workweek. The entire district will be closed on Fridays.

  • Assistant Superintendent to retire

    This week, it was publicly announced during the Wayne County Board of Education meeting that Nan Barwick, WCPS Assistant Superintendent for Fiscal Services would soon retire. The 31-year school finance veteran’s last official day of employment will be June 30, 2014

  • Teachers of the Year

    With the school year coming to a close, WCPS is excited to announce the 2014-2015 Teachers of the Year who will represent their schools in the coming school year. The 31 teachers selected will now prepare to compete for the district-wide honor of WCPS Teacher of the Year.

  • Governor's Teacher Network

    Brogden Middle Title I teacher, Karen Fulkerson, and Mount Olive Middle fifth grade math teacher, Jennifer Harper, were recently selected for the Governor’s Teacher Network.

  • Graduation Schedule

    WCPS will graduate approximately 1,200 seniors at the end of the 2013-14 school year. Over the next week, the district’s six traditional high schools will graduate 1,077 seniors. The district’s two non-traditional high schools, Wayne Early/Middle College High and Wayne School of Engineering, held commencement ceremonies in May. The two schools had 130 graduates.

  • On Broadway: A Musical Revue

    On Thursday, May 22, Fremont STARS Elementary will hold its annual fundraiser concert to support the school’s “STARS on STAGE” program. The concert titled, “On Broadway: A Musical Revue” will showcase area performers singing or dancing to Broadway melodies.
