If a WCPS student tests positive for COVID-19, the following must occur:
- The school needs to be notified in order for the student’s absence to be correctly coded.
- The student will be excluded from school for 5 days (as applicable).
- NOTE: The school nurse will provide the family guidance regarding the student’s exclusion start/end dates based on the most current CDC guidance.
- Upon their return to school, the student will be recommended to wear a mask for 5 additional days.
The same guidance will be followed by WCPS staff.
Reminder: To help prevent the transmission of sickness in general, any student or staff member displaying a fever of 100.4 degrees or greater, has diarrhea, or who is vomiting must stay home. Individuals who have a fever of 100.4 degrees or greater cannot return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the assistance of fever reducing medicine.
