Eastern Wayne High School Athletic Hall of Fame
Purpose: The Eastern Wayne High School Athletic Hall of Fame is being created with the purpose of recognizing the previous athletic performance of our athletes, as well as the continued involvement of our athletes, coaches and/or community members that positively impact our school and athletic teams. The Hall of Fame will seek to recognize men and women who have distinguished themselves in their respective athletic fields while also maintaining a high moral standard on and off the field. The Hall of Fame will also attempt to draw attention to and encourage more involvement from our community at large to increase the opportunities available to our athletes on and off the field.
Advisory Board Selection: The Advisory Board will consist of the current head coach of the respective sport as well as former coaches, players, and community members. Players must have been graduated for at least 10 years, help develop the criteria by which potential Hall of Fame inductees will be judged and maintain a high moral standard themselves.
Nomination Criteria (Athletes): An athlete will be eligible for nomination into the HOF ten years after graduation. Recognition at the state, county, and conference levels will be considered in addition to any post high school accomplishments such as collegiate or professional athletic success. Nomination Criteria (Coach or Community Member): An athletic director, coach, or staff member must have served Eastern Wayne High School within the field of athletics for five years to be eligible for consideration. A community member can be considered for acceptance into the Eastern Wayne Athletic Hall of Fame through their demonstration of continued support of the athletic program. This support can be demonstrated in countless ways including, but not limited to, volunteering within the athletic booster club, donating time to help with sporting events or programs, consistent help in fundraising efforts through participation in the fundraising activities or events. A community member, athletic director, coach, or staff member must have made direct and significant impact on Eastern Wayne Athletics. He or she must also have set and maintained high professional and personal standards.
