Polymer Camp @ NC State  

 WHO?  Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior

WHY? This workship is designed for high school students interested in physical sciences and engineering. 

 

 Summer Textile Exploration Program (NC State)   

 WHO? Current Juniors 
WHAT? Wilson College Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP)
WHEN? Summer 2020 (Various dates)

WHY? One-week sessions for students interested in learning about the textile industry, fashion, engineering, polymer science and business marketing. Participants will live in one of NC State's residence halls. The program cost is $350, including lodging, transcportation during the program, materials, and several meals during the program. Students in need of financial assistance can submit a fee waiver after submitting the STEP application.

 

 

CAALS-3D Program  

WHO? Rising high school juniors and seniors
WHAT? Creating Awareness of Agriculture & Life Sciences Disciplines, Degree Programs and Discoveries (CAALS-3D)

WHY? CAALS-3D brings rising junior and senior high school students to NC State for a one-week research experience so that they can learn what all that NC State has to offer. This summer camp is FREE. 

 

 

 

Rotary Youth Leadership Program  

WHO? Current 10th & 11th grade students
WHAT? Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Each year, thousands of young people participate in this program. In our Rotary District, current high school sophomores (10th grade) and current high school juniors (11th grade) are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend the event run by the club's district committee.

WHY? The format of the event vary from district to district, but commonly take the form of a seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. All delegates will plan and execute a service project in their community when they return home.

 

 

 

 

Leadership Institute for Future Teachers 

 WHO? Academically-competitive rising seniors of color and/or bilingual students interested in education.
WHAT? Leadership Institute for Future Teachers (LIFT) is a 5-day residential program for bilingual students and students of color who are interested in exploring a potential career in education. 
WHEN?  Sunday, June 14 to Thursday, June 18, 2020
WHERE? NC State University

WHY? Students will engage in intensive and innovative on campus activities, enhance communication and leadership skills, and be mentored by current NC State students. Participants will also interact with statewide leaders in education, develop friendships with like minded high school students across the state, and receive ongoing encouragement and support after the program through digital engagement. 

 

 

 

 

Multicultural Appreciation Day Experience @ ECU

WHAT? MADE (Multicultural Appreciation Day Experience) @ ECU 2020

WHY? MADE at ECU gives current 11th grade students an opportunity to see how they can benefit from an exceptional education and wonderful social experience at East Carolina. MADE at ECU will offer students the chance to meet with current students and faculty, learn how to apply and pay for their education, explore our scholarship opportunities, and learn about the many different majors offered at ECU. Program cost is $30.

 

 

 

 

 Project Uplift

WHO? 11th grade students (Designed for students from underrepresented populations, such as American Indian, African American, Hispanic/Latinx and Asian American backgrounds. Prospective first-generation college students, students from rural communities and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds are welcome. While these are Project Uplift's target audiences, the program is open for anyone to attend.)

WHY? Project Uplift is a summer enrichment and college access program designed to promote and increase access to higher education for all outstanding students, especially those underrepresented in post-secondary education. During this two-day experience, Project Uplift participants live on Carolina’s campus, interacting with faculty, staff and current students, participating in educational, cultural and social activities. Project Uplift Scholars have the opportunity to immerse themselves in college life and experience the academic rigor and social climate of a four-year institution.

 

 

 

 

 Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference

WHY? The State Leadership Seminar empowers high school sophomores to develop their leadership talents to become the leaders of their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society.

WHY? SATELLITE (Science And Technology Enriching Lifelong Leadership In Tomorrow’s Endeavors) is an exciting five-day adventure at North Carolina State University for selected HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES. During the program, SATELLITE scholars are exposed to a wide range of N.C. State's science and technology resources while exploring future educational and career opportunities in a variety of fields. Scholars also get a feel for the college experience--living in student dorms, attending lectures, hands-on laboratories, and interactive demonstrations led by faculty and staff, and participating in various cultural and enrichment activities.

 

 

 NC Renaissance (UNC-CH)

WHY? NC Renaissance seeks to engage students from rural counties in NC in an educational four-day experience that exposes them to the many educational opportunities at a four-year university. The program aims to inspire high-achieving scholars to pursue their educational aspirations while developing leadership skills.
