The School Nurse Program is made up of a dedicated group of school nurses who make it possible for students with health conditions to attend school safely. The nurses serve all of Wayne County's Public Schools. School Nurses are responsible for developing care plans for students requiring special health care procedures and students with chronic health conditions, monitoring immunizations and NC Health Assessments for compliance with state law, and performing certain screenings and follow up. They also educate students, staff, and parents on health topics and manage acute health problems in the school setting.
If you are a student, or a parent of a student who has a health condition requiring interventions during the school day, please contact Kim Kennedy, RN, Manager, School Health Services at (919) 731-6310.
