Plan A : Covid Guidelines

As we move into Plan A next week, we will see some changes in the
COVID guidelines for schools. The NC DHHS is aligning with the CDC
and has updated their guidelines. Below is a list of changes to expect on
Monday when we return. As always, please reach out to us with any
questions or concerns.

1) Temperature checks upon arrival will no longer be required.

2) Attestation forms will no longer be required but will be substituted with
"Parent Daily Symptom Screening Checklist".
This new form will be provided in an attachment. It is for you to keep at
home and does not have to be presented to staff
or turned in. Please use the checklist every morning before school and
DO NOT send your child to school if you can
answer YES to any of the questions.

3) New symptoms have been added. The checklist has been updated
to include the following symptoms:
     Fever of 100.4 or higher
     Sore throat
     Diarrhea
     Vomiting
     New onset of severe headache
     Difficulty breathing
     New cough
New loss of taste or smell

Just as before, if your child has any of these
symptoms they are not allowed to be at school. Please keep them home
and notify us. If they develop or report any of these symptoms during the
school day they will be sent home on quarantine for 10 days. As previously,
they may return sooner with a negative PCR COVID test or a note from a
doctor stating that their illness is not COVID related.

4) Quarantine is no longer required when a household member has any
of the symptoms listed above. Quarantine will only be required if your child
has been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID,
if your child has any of
the above symptoms, or if your child has tested positive for COVID.

Vaccines : news from the Nurse

The students are required to receive the Meningococcal booster for the 2020-2021 school year when they turn 16 or are entering the 12th grade, whichever comes first.  Once they complete this requirement, they are to bring their updated shot record to the nurse or email it to alexisspence@wcps.org .  Failure to complete this will result in them being excluded from school on October 31st until they receive it.  This law applies to ALL students, whether virtual or face-to-face.
