With the recent announcement of school closure and continued remote digital learning, many of you are probably wondering if your child(ren) should complete their assignments.
It is correct that these "assignments" will not be graded in traditional terms, but we are using the work to monitor our students' growth in the concepts being taught.
Working and keeping our students engaged should prevent a 4-5 month gap in their learning. Not continuing to work could set back our children at least 6 months.
We will begin next school year behind and we will make instructional adjustments to ensure our students get back on grade-level.
This could be a struggle to stay caught up with students that continued their lessons. However, a very low percentage of our students could do nothing and still be successful.
We will be using the whole year, even remote digital learning, to determine mastery of grade concepts.
This is a time for your child to stay focused and have some normalcy of still being connected with their teachers and their school. Also, this would be a great time to focus on areas of concern you or your teacher may see in your child(ren). This one on one time is precious, beneficial and memory making.
On a personal note, our Bulldog Staff feel the struggle of balancing a job, supporting children with their school work and maintaining a positive attitude over this unpredictable and ever-changing time.
So please reach out and let us know how we can assist you during this time.
If your family situation has been affected- loss of income, need food, clothing and/or shelter. Please call the school at 919-689-500. Your information will be kept confidential as we strive to find the resources available to assist you and your family. Remember once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!
Please see this recent announcement as an adjustment in our vision to know that this may not affect my children academically now but in the years to come.
We are the Mighty Bulldogs! We have Bulldog PRIDE! And we are Survivors!
