Managing Principal

Charlie Davis

Charlie Davis is a dedicated student advocate and school leader who is excited to contribute to the great work being done in the Brogden community as the new Principal of Brogden Middle School. He is committed to nurturing the potential of every student, helping them grow into confident leaders within their classrooms, schools, and communities. Charlie has a deep, abiding belief in the genius, brilliance, and possibility of all students, and he is passionate about doing the work to support students, families, and staff on this shared journey.

Charlie began his education career at Brogden Primary School in 2007. Since then, he has taken on various roles during his time as an educator in Wayne, Wilson, Lenoir, and Cumberland counties. Charlie currently holds a Master of Public Administration from Post University. A 2019 recipient of the North Carolina Principal Fellows Scholarship, Charlie completed NC State University's Principal Preparation Program to earn a Master of School Administration degree in May 2021. With 18 years of experience in education, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a collaborative spirit to his leadership.

Charlie is known for being an agile problem solver who listens carefully, embraces feedback, and is able to attend to students’ social-emotional well-being while building systems to improve academic success. He previously served as an Assistant Principal at Spring Creek Middle and Norwayne Middle School, where he partnered with staff, students, and families to create a positive, inclusive environment where students felt valued and empowered to be curious thinkers.

At the heart of Charlie’s calling as an educator is the knowledge that, together with staff and families, "We are fueling, informing, and educating the next generation of community leaders."

Principal

Sherida Suggs

Sherida Suggs has a deep enthusiasm for education and a steadfast commitment to creating a supportive, nurturing environment for all students.

She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management with a concentration in Child Studies. Her educational journey continued with a Master’s Degree earned in 2012 from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and most recently, a second Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Sherida began her career with Wayne County Public Schools in 2015 as a first-grade teacher, where she developed a profound passion for empowering both students and teachers to reach their fullest potential. Over the years, she has served on various leadership teams and contributed to impactful initiatives such as The Rural Teacher Leader Network and The North Carolina Principal Fellows Program. These experiences have strengthened her belief in the power of collaboration and communication to meet the diverse needs of students and their families.

Sherida’s primary goal is to support the principal and dedicated staff in their shared mission—to cultivate an environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to student growth and achievement. She believes education goes beyond teaching; it is about inspiring and equipping students to become outstanding citizens in their communities.  Throughout her years as a classroom teacher, she worked diligently to create an inviting, respectful environment where every student felt valued and supported. In her administrative role at Brogden Middle School, she carries that same dedication forward, fostering a culture of empowerment for both staff and students.

Ms. Suggs is committed to empowering each team member and recognizing the unique contributions they bring to the school’s collective mission. Her vision is to foster a thriving, collaborative environment where faculty can grow as leaders and strengthen the learning community.

Bookkeeper

Starsha Daniels

Hello Brogden Middle School Family,

My name is Starsha Daniels, and I am so excited to join the BMS team as your new Bookkeeper! It is truly an honor to step into this role and be part of this school and community.

As bookkeeper I am responsible for maintaining the financial aspect of our school. Financial record keeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements along with a host of other school base responsibilities.

Whether you have questions about special dates or reserving the school facility, I’m here to help as best as I can. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
