Parent and Family Engagement Policy
2024-2025
Eastern Wayne Middle School adheres to the philosophy that parental involvement is essential in the total teaching and learning process of children. A Title 1 presentation was sent to families on September 30, 2024 to discuss our school-wide project(s), federal regulations, and requirements that relate to our Title 1 program and parents’ right to be involved. School-Parent Compact Agreements that outline how parents, school staff, and students will share the responsibilities for improving students’ achievement will be sent home soon.
Eastern Wayne Middle School provides the following parental engagement activities:
Parent workshops and seminars offered throughout the year
Curriculum night events to explain our policies, curriculum, and classroom expectations.
Resource room (308) with classroom and school resources for parents.

Wayne County School Advisory Council
Inclusion of selected parents on school improvement teams and committees
Eastern Wayne Middle School’s Report Card sent home annually
Home/school communications through the school website, online WCPS student handbooks, newsletters, progress reports, Instant Connect phone calls,Talking Points communication system, etc.

PARENTS RIGHT TO KNOW STATEMENT
As required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title I Part A, information is available at your child’s school including, but not limited, to the following:
1. The School Improvement Plan
2. Qualifications of your child’s teacher and instructional assistant:
If the teacher met state qualification and licensing criteria for the subject and grade in which they provide instruction
If the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status per state qualifications or licensing standards
If the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of certification of the teacher
Whether the child is provided service from paraprofessionals, and if so their qualifications
3. Professional development opportunities for teachers and instructional assistants to ensure highly effective personnel
4. Opportunities for parent engagement and input
5. The Wayne County Public Schools Improvement Plan
