Our Assistant Principal-LaSonya Brooks

Ms. Brooks

Ms. LaSonya Brooks is a native of Goldsboro, NC and a graduate of Southern Wayne High School in Dudley, NC.  She has been working with students in Wayne Public Schools for over 20 years.  She started out as an Exceptional Children's instructional assistant in 2002 at North Drive Elementary.  She transitioned to a classroom teacher in 2007 after receiving her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Barton College.  She has worked in first grade and fourth grade. 

In 2012, she earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. In 2013, she transitioned to a special area teacher where she focused on teaching math to K-4 students.  In 2016, she earned a master's degree in Administration and Supervision. She transitioned to Elementary Math Lead Teacher for the district and Curriculum Facilitator at North Drive Elementary. In 2021, she became the Assistant Principal at North Drive Elementary. 

In 2023, Ms. Brooks transitioned to the Assistant Principal at Northeast Elementary.  She is looking forward to helping to assist the students with reaching their potential and watching them SOAR to new heights.
