Assessment Information
District Assessments are a tool used to predict and track student progress throughout the school year. These assessments help determine current levels and areas of improvement that may need attention to meet end of year goals. Wayne County Schools has a variety of assessments implemented throughout the district across all grade levels. District Assessments given in grades K-5 are:
Star Reading
Star Math
NC Check-Ins - Reading, Math, and Science
State Assessments are also a tool used to track student progress over time. As opposed to District Assessments that track in the school year, most State Assessments track over multiple years. The exception is mCLASS Reading Assessments - they are administered at the same time as District Assessments but are state mandated.
