AP CAPSTONE
Students who take Advanced Placement courses send a signal to colleges that they’re serious about their education and that they’re willing to challenge themselves with rigorous coursework. Students can also earn college credits while they are still enrolled in high school by taking AP courses. AP courses available at Wayne School of Technical Arts include: AP Computer Science Principles, AP Biology, AP United States History, AP Seminar, AP Research, AP English Literature & Composition, AP Pre-Calculus, and AP Earth/Environmental Science.
AP Capstone™ is a diploma program centered around two year-long AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. These courses are designed to complement other AP courses that a high school student may take. Instead of teaching specific subject knowledge, AP Seminar and AP Research use an interdisciplinary approach to develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, and presentation skills students need for college-level work.
Participating in AP Capstone can help students stand out to colleges, become independent thinkers, develop key academic skills, and more. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing receive the AP Capstone Diploma™.
