WCPS announces interim principal for Charles B. Aycock High
The Wayne County Board of Education has named former Elkin City Schools superintendent (and former Charles B. Aycock High principal), Dr. Randy Bledsoe, as the interim principal of Charles B. Aycock High. He will replace Dr. Earl Moore who is retiring at the end of February.
Dr. Bledsoe is a native of Surry County. After 38 years serving in public education, Dr. Bledsoe retired as superintendent of Elkin City Schools in 2016. The veteran educator started his career in 1978 teaching science at Ferndale Middle School in High Point. Since that time, he taught science in the middle school and high school settings as well as physical education in grades K-5. His administrative background includes being an assistant principal at Eastern Wayne High School and holding principalships at Dillard Middle, Charles B. Aycock High, and Greene Central High. It is especially important to note that Dr. Bledsoe taught biology and coached basketball and track at Charles B. Aycock High from 1985-1989 and spent a decade as principal at the school from 1995-2005.
“I am honored to be asked to return to Charles B. Aycock High School as interim principal,” states Dr. Bledsoe. “As a teacher, coach, and principal at Aycock, I was always impressed with the staff and students and was so appreciative of the support that this school received from the community. I truly appreciate this opportunity to return to the CBA family and fill in during this time of transition.”
Dr. Bledsoe holds a bachelor’s degree from High Point University. He also holds master’s, educational specialist, and doctoral degrees from East Carolina University.
