Updated Information for Seniors & Junior Marshalls

Dear Seniors, 

Please come to the school on Monday, June 15 between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm to pick up graduation materials. You need this packet even if you are opting for the drive through graduation. You need to bring your school ID or drivers license when you come.  The packet includes waivers, tickets, cords, stoles, etc.  You and your guest must have signed health waivers to attend the on-site graduation.  Your guests must have a ticket to attend the onsite graduation.   If you have not already paid your fees, you will be able to do so then.  You will not receive your diploma until fees are paid.  The graduation fee is $18.00.  

If you are not planning to participate in either the drive through or on-site ceremony, you may pick up your diploma at this time. 

Please read the letter below. It has important information for graduation.  

Dear Graduates,

Congratulations on graduating!  It has been a very different year, and this graduation ceremony will certainly be different.  Please dress appropriately for this special day, no jeans, shorts, or flip-flops. Traditionally (we recommend following tradition): Girls wear dresses or skirts and guys wear dark dress pants (khakis are fine) with shirts and ties. Remember that you will be walking on grass and across a stage that may have ridges; wear shoes that will allow you to do so comfortably and safely. Please do not decorate your caps.  In order for this day to be special for everyone, we must all follow the guidelines and cooperate. A Lifetouch photographer will be here to take pictures.  The entire ceremony will be live streamed.  Please read this information carefully and show up on Wednesday morning ready to celebrate your accomplishments.

General Instructions for Graduates

    • Doors open at 8:30.  You will not be admitted before that time.
    • The only entrance and exits will be the ones used for football/bus parking and the main entrance to the school (the one used for student drop off and pick up.)
    • Seniors will enter through the main door of the school. 
      • Turn in your signed waiver at the door.
      • Follow the instructions of staff members in the parking lot and use the designated paths to ensure proper social distancing.
    • You will be directed through the school and to your seat on the football field.
    • Remain in your seat once you are seated.
    • There will be staff members at each end of your row.  They will tell you when to stand and direct you to and from the stage where you will receive your diploma.
    • Please remain seated until all graduates have received diplomas and returned to their seats.
    • Please do not throw your hats.
    • Follow Mr. Clingan and staff member’s directions to exit the football field.
      • You will exit through the school and out the main entrance. 
      • You will be directed by staff and expected to maintain proper social distancing during the exit process.
      • Please follow the paths to your vehicle and wait for your guests to join you there.

General Instructions for Guests-All guests must have a ticket and a signed waiver to enter the field. This includes all Wayne County employees.

      • Guests will use the entrances and parking lots used for football/bus parking and the main entrance to the school.
      • Guests will enter the football field through the football and baseball gates.
        • Staff members will collect signed waiver and tickets.  (Every guest

must have a ticket and a signed waiver.)

        • Staff members will direct guests to these entrances along paths marked to ensure proper social distancing guidelines are being maintained.
      • Guests will be directed to seating in order to maintain proper social distancing.
      • Guests are asked to remain seated until directed to do otherwise.
      • Guests are asked to hold applause and celebrations until all graduates’ names are called to ensure each graduate’s name may be clearly heard.
      • Guests will be dismissed by Mr. Clingan in order to ensure proper social distancing is being maintained.
  • Graduates and guests should follow all guidelines for maintaining proper social distancing at all times.

Students who are choosing drive through graduation, if you did not answer the survey or have changed your mind, please email [email protected].  You are receiving emails specifically about drive through graduation.

Rain date:  Thursday, May 18-If this is necessary, you will receive details via email and all senior call.

Good morning Junior Marshals!

We have just been provided the following information in regard to Graduation!!

Junior Marshals are allowed to attend graduation!!

If you do not want to attend, you certainly are not required.

If you plan to attend, you must pick-up a COVID Health Waiver at the front desk, complete the waiver with appropriate signatures, and bring it with you the morning of graduation.  

Marshals will not have any official duties this year.  

If you choose to attend, Marshals will sit in a row of chairs 6 feet apart behind the Seniors on the football field.

What to wear?

Ladies (dress, skirt & blouse/top, dress pants & blouse/top) you are not required to wear white, no flip-flops or extreme high heel shoes - you will be walking in the grass

Gentlemen - pants and collared shirt, you are not required to wear a tie, no shorts or flip flops

Graduation is next Wednesday, June 17th at 9 am

If you plan to attend, please be at school at 8:30 am and enter in the front of the school lobby door with your signed COVID Health Waiver.

Marshals will not be provided any guest tickets.

Dear Seniors,

We have a date for on-site graduation!  On-site graduation will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!  (No, I am not yelling.  I am using my emphatic teacher voice!)

=         Each on-site participant and guest must sign a waiver and that waiver must be presented on June 17, 2020.

=         Each participating senior will receive 2 tickets-only 2 tickets. 

=         Each guest (including SCHS and other Wayne County Employees) must have a ticket.

=         Fees must be paid prior to receiving waivers and tickets. 

o   Graduation fee is $18.00.

o   You may come to the school and pay fees between 8:00 am and 2:30 pm.

o   You may pay fees on the day you pick up your graduation cords, stoles, tickets, waivers, etc.

Graduation material delivery will be on Monday, June 15 from 9:00 to 1:00.  We will use the same drive through delivery method used for delivering senior signs and gift bags.

o   If the date for on-site graduation changes your plans for participating in graduation, please email me directly.

o   If you are not participating in the on-site graduation, you will not receive waivers or tickets.

o   If you do not plan to participate in graduation, you may come to school, pay any outstanding fees, and pick up your diploma during school operating hours (8:00am-3:00pm).

o   If you plan to participate in a drive through graduation, you will be contacted with more information later this week.

Seniors who have not picked up cap n gowns can come to the office between 8:30 - 11:30 Mon thru Fri.

Cords will be given all together at some point before graduation. 

Keep checking your emails for graduation information. 

 

4/22/2020

Herff Jones will distribute senior cap and gowns on campus on Tuesday, May 5, between 8 AM and 12 PM.  It will be on a drive up basis in front of the school.  Safe social distancing will be observed.

 Announcements will have the original graduation date on them.

Dear Graduating Seniors and Parents,

Graduation is quickly approaching.  Here are a few details that may help you plan more efficiently for this special day. 

Fees Owed

Please pay all fees owed as soon as possible.  Diplomas will not be issued until all fees are paid. Fees may be paid in the media center or to Mrs. Kennedy during first period.

Caps and Gowns

Please make sure you have ordered your cap and gown.  The easiest way to do this may be online.  Go to https://highschool.herffjones.com/secom/school/NC/Spring%20Creek%20High%20School/32000881000/2380/buildpackage/1 .  Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will find a picture of a cap and gown. Click on the picture.  You need to include your height and weight when you order to ensure that you gown fits correctly.  You may also contact Jay Kornegay at [email protected] if you have questions about your order.

Dress Code

Please dress appropriately for this special occasion.  Obviously, students will wear caps and gowns for the actual ceremony.

o   Female graduates wear dresses and dark shoes.  Please wear dress shoes that will allow you to navigate steps and walk across the stage without fear of stumbling.

o   Male graduates wear dark dress pants and shoes.  

o   Caps may not be decorated.

Practice

Practice will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 12 at Kornegay Arena on the University of Mount Olive Campus. The address is 630 Henderson Drive, Mt. Olive, NC.  Please arrive promptly. Practice will end when everyone demonstrates an understanding of what to do and when to do it, so please cooperate and practice will be over quickly.  Any outstanding fees should be paid prior to graduation practice. Fees will be collected after graduation practice.

Tickets

You will receive ten tickets at graduation practice.  If you need more than ten tickets, please talk to your classmates to see if anyone has extra. 

Etiquette

Graduation is a very special occasion.  It officially marks your transition from childhood to adulthood, and you should all be proud.  I understand that families are excited and ready to celebrate; however, the celebration needs to wait until every graduate has crossed the stage.  If you and your family celebrate when your name is called, the next graduate’s family may not get to hear their student’s name called.  Please be polite and respectful and wait to clap and yell until all graduates’ names have been called.

Graduation Day

Graduation will be held at Kornegay Arena on the University of Mount Olive campus.  The address is 630 Henderson Drive, Mt. Olive, NC. The doors will open at 9:00 am.  Graduation will begin at 10:00 am. 

o   Graduates, please arrive in a timely manner.  You will need to line up and be ready when the processional begins.

o   Graduate Families and Guests, you do not want to miss your graduate’s entrance into the arena, so please arrive in time to be seated before the processional begins at 10:00 am.  Any guest not seated at the time the processional begins will be held in the lobby until the processional is complete.  Only then will latecomers be seated. 

o   Balloons are not allowed inside the arena. Gifts of balloons will be held in the lobby until the ceremony is over. 

Finally, please continue to be diligent in school attendance and class work.  All academic requirements must be met in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. I hope that these last few months of senior year are great ones.
