We are excited to announce that our very own Robin Casey was featured in the NC State Science House August edition newsletter for STEM.

Mrs. Casey attended a Fall 2024 session at NCCAT in Ocracoke entitled :
Get Out- Using the Outdoors as a STEM Tool.

Mrs. Casey implemented some of the tools and resources that she learned from that professional development with the second graders at Carver Elementary during the Spring of 2025.

Welcome Back Mrs. Wendy Hooks.

Mrs Hooks serves as CSS Associate Director and Success Coach at Carver Elementary.

Mrs. Hooks has a passion for reading and oversees our Accelerated Reading Program.

Mrs Hooks will be at Open House on Wednesday, August 20th from 5pm to 7pm to greet families and to answer questions you may have about AR.

Read Across America Week

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION April 7th - 10th : These days have been designated as "Drop Off" days. Parents can come by the school to pick up a packet. Once the registration packet has been filled out, the parents will need to call the front office and schedule an appointment to come by the school to drop off their completed registration packet along with the required documentation for their child's registration on the designated days. April 11th : This day has been designated as the "On Site" Registration Day. Parents will be able to come to the school and do their registration on site from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Attached are the English, Spanish & Creole versions of the flyer.

My name is Wendy Hooks and I am the Success Coach for Carver Elementary. My focus here at Carver is to promote a love for reading among the students. The month of February we have a big challenge for our students. The challenge is called "Pedaling Towards Reading Success." Students are being challenged to read as many books as they can on their levels with a score of 100 on the quizzes. The boy and girl with the most 100s will be the winners in each 3rd and 4th grade class. There will also be a Most Improved Student in each class. These students will be selected by Mrs.Smith and myself. Winners will be awarded a brand new bicycle and helmet. Wow - what a prize!!!! We will also award one third grade class and one fourth grade class with a class party. In order to win the class prize, the class must have the most 100s in their grade level. The two classes that win will receive a class cookie decorating party, a small trophy and a bike pin for their medaillons. Please make sure your child is reading each night for twenty to thirty minutes. This is so important!!! If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
