GRADUATION: 

WHEN: Saturday, June 7th, at 2:00 p.m.

      SENIORS ARRIVE BY 1:00 p.m .  

WHERE:  Kornegay Arena/ University of Mt. Olive

QUICK FACTS:

1. Six (6) tickets per student

  • All guests must have a ticket to enter

  • The door to the ceremony will close at 2:00 p.m. All guests will need to arrive in time to enter and be seated before the ceremony begins.

2. The ceremony will be live-streamed so that family and friends not in attendance can watch.

MANDATORY GRADUATION PRACTICE:

WHEN: Friday, June 6th, at 9:00 a.m

WHERE: Kornegay Arena/ University of Mt. Olive

  • All seniors participating in the ceremony must attend practice.

  • All senior fees/debts must be paid to participate in practice and the ceremony.

  • All seniors must meet graduation requirements to participate in practice and the ceremony.

  • All seniors must bring their decorated cap to practice for review by administration.

Tickets for the graduation ceremony will be distributed to seniors at the end of practice.

Dress Code for Graduation/Cap and Gowns

●  Males should wear a collar shirt, socks, dress shoes, and dress pants (you may wear tan, khaki or dark colors).  Appropriate shoes should be worn. No flip-flops.

●  Females should wear dresses/skirts/dress pants and tops (all within the dress code)  with dress shoes.  NO flip flops. It is highly suggested that you do not wear high heel shoes or shoes that would be uncomfortable. 

●    Students not adhering to this dress code will not participate in the graduation ceremony.

●    Try on your cap and gown before the day of the ceremony, to ensure that it fits properly.

 ●    Hang up your gown so that the wrinkles will fall out.  Do not attempt to iron!

●    Caps are worn with the deepest part of the crown at the back

  • Your tassel should be on the right side.  

  • Caps should be placed flat on the head, not at an angle.            

  • Caps are to be decorated following the guidelines below.

  • NO additional pins/stoles/ or adornments should be worn unless provided by the school.

  • NO corsages/bouquets/single flowers are allowed to be carried, and NO BALLOONS!.

CAP DECORATIONS: Only flat decorations allowed! There should not be any decorations that hang from the cap. Decorations should follow WCPS dress guidelines (appropriate language/photos/captions). Caps will be reviewed at graduation practice. Photos of caps will be taken on Friday. Changes to caps made after Friday’s practice will result in the student not being able to participate in the ceremony Saturday. Meaning: YOU WILL NOT WALK!!!

●      All students participating in the ceremony must wear their cap, tassel, hood, and gown.

●      The graduation gown goes on over your clothing

  • then Latin Honor Stole (if applicable)

  • then EWHS hood, 

  • then NHS Stole (if applicable)

  • then honors cords (if applicable - only NC Scholars, Honor Graduates,  Rho Kappa, CTE  & Arts Honor Society)

  • Latin Honor Stoles-   Students graduating with Latin Honors will be provided an Honor Stole to wear during the Graduation Ceremony. 

    • Immediately following the ceremony, stoles must be placed and collected when you pick up your diploma.

NHS Stoles must also be returned immediately following the ceremony. An advisor will collect these when you pick up your diploma.
