I hope everyone had a great first week of school! Thank you to our students, families, and staff for helping us get the year off to a great start.
As we begin another week, we are still working hard with transportation to get bus assignments finalized for all of our students. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process.
A couple of reminders for this week:
No soccer practice tomorrow. They will resume on Tuesday. Football, volleyball and cheer will practice tomorrow.
On Thursday, we will have our Fall Sports Parent Night at 4:55 PM in the gym.
On Friday, we will have our Back-to-School Dance from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is $5, and concessions will be available for purchase.
Thank you again for your patience and support during our first week. We’re looking forward to another great week at Greenwood Middle School.

Bus 609 will cover Bus 548’s morning route on Friday, August 28, and Monday, August 31. Bus 609 will begin the route 10 minutes earlier, so all Bus 548 riders—including students picked up at the Youth Center—should arrive at their bus stops 10 minutes earlier than usual.

Football Tryouts will be held tomorrow from 2:45–4:45 PM. Students interested in trying out must have an updated physical on file in order to participate.

GWD Families – Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
As we prepare to welcome our T-Birds back to school, we want to make sure everyone understands our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. The first week will be an adjustment for all of us, so we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep our students safe and traffic moving smoothly.
🚗 Morning Drop-Off
We will use the RIGHT LANE ONLY for morning drop-off. The left lane will be closed.
Please pull forward as far as possible and follow the directions of staff members. If we need to make any adjustments, staff will be there to guide you.
Please have students ready to exit the vehicle with all of their belongings.
For safety, students should walk in front of vehicles, never behind them.
🚙 Afternoon Pick-Up
All pick-ups will be in front of school.
We will use BOTH LANES for afternoon pick-up.
Cars will fill both lanes and come to a complete stop before students are allowed into the car rider area.
Students should pay close attention and watch for their ride.
Students should NOT enter the parking lot until all vehicles have completely stopped and staff gives directions.
Once both lanes are loaded, staff will release the vehicles. The next group of cars will then pull forward, stop, and the next group of students will be released.

All buses will drop off and pick up at the Annex. Staff members will be stationed in this area to welcome students, supervise, and direct them where they need to go.
We know the first week or so will take some adjustment, and things may move a little slower as everyone learns the new routine. Thank you in advance for your patience, attention, and cooperation. Our number one priority is getting every T-Bird to and from school safely.
