Parents' Right to Know Statement

As required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title I Part A, information is available at your child's schools including, but not limited, to the following:

  1. the School Improvement Plan

  2. qualifications of your child's teacher:

    • If the teacher met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

    • If the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status per state qualification or licensing standards.

    • If the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.

    • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and if so, their qualifications.

  3. Timely notice that the student has been assigned , or taught 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements.

  4. Professional development opportunities for teacher and instructional assistants to ensure highly effective personnel

  5. Information regarding state and local testing policy; information regarding student participation in any mandatory assessments, including a procedure or parental right to opt the child out of such assessment.

  6. Information on req1uired assessments.

  7. Opportunities for parent engagement and input.

  8. The Wayne County Public Schools' Improvement plan.

  9. The Wayne County Public Schools' Title I Parent and Engagement Plan and School Parent and Family Engagement Plan.
