WCPS/WCC Teacher Apprenticeship Program
Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS) and Wayne Community College (WCC) have partnered to launch North Carolina’s first registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program. This innovative program allows current instructional assistants and support staff to earn a salary while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom and working toward a teaching license.
Through a combination of on-the-job training and academic support, apprentices receive mentorship, financial assistance, and the opportunity to grow into certified teachers—helping strengthen the local educator pipeline while developing a thriving career in education.
