This week, Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS) will kick off its graduation season with 103 students graduating from its two Non-Traditional Calendar schools: Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College High School.

In June, the district’s seven traditional calendar high schools will hold their ceremonies with 1075 seniors becoming graduates.  It is worth noting that Wayne School of Technical Arts, the district's newest school and the only North Carolina public school located on a United States military installation, will graduate its first class with 15 seniors donning caps and gowns. Altogether, more than 1,175 WCPS graduating seniors will take the stage this graduation season to receive their high school diploma.

District leaders recognize that commencement events reflect the hard work of students and the dedicated efforts and contributions by the myriad of classroom teachers, instructional support staff, student support teams, school administrators, club advisors, athletic coaches, parents, volunteers, and community partners who help support student success.

“While there are many milestones that are celebrated over the course of a student's academic career, there is nothing more exciting to our students, families, and school communities than our high school graduations,” states Dr. Marc Whichard, WCPS Superintendent. "Earning a high school diploma positions students for greater success in life and in their next steps as they move on to college, the military, or the workforce. On behalf of our Board of Education and Wayne County Public Schools, we congratulate all of our graduating seniors and wish them continued success in all that they do.”
