On Fri. and Sat.(10/17, 10/18) the top 6 CBA girls tennis players competed at the Regional Tourney at Barton College in Wilson. The Golden Falcons were well represented.
Our #1 doubles team and #2 tourney seed Kannyn Fail/Katelynn McDermott, our #1 and 2 players) won their 2 matches on Fri. then won in semis Sat. morning before falling in finals to #1 seeded Wilson Fike team. However, as runner-up at the Regional Tourney, Fail/McDermott qualified for State Tourney next Fri., Oct. 24 at Ting Park in Holly Springs outside Raleigh. They will represent the #2 seed of East Region vs. #1 seed of Midwest Region(opponents TBD in draw coming out Mon. on nchsaa.org). In addition, the CBA duo is now considered one of the top 8 5A doubles teams in NC.
Meanwhile, the doubles team of Ava Keim/Sarah Tuck(our #3 and 4 players) competed well before losing in 1st rd. to West Carteret team. In singles, Dayna Boutte, our #5 player, lost in long, tough 3 set match in 1st rd. to #1 player from Dixon while Abigayle Abrams, our #6 player, upset the #1 player from Havelock in 1st rd. before succumbing to #2 seeded player from South Brunswick in 2nd rd.
Again, CBA qualified their entire top 6 team to this East Regional tourney and represented!
