The CBA Men's Tennis team fell 1-5(doubles not contested) to #1 5A state-ranked Western Alamance Wed. afternoon in Elon, NC in the Eastern Team Playoffs Finals(Final Four) while Hickory defeated Atkins HS in the Western Finals.  The Golden Falcons battled to the end but came up short.  However, Zach Wright won an epic match 7-5,4-6,1-0(12-10 in tiebreaker) at #6 singles to secure the lone win.  Despite the loss, as you can see by the final stats below, it was truly a vintage year as a team and individual effort:

Player                                      Singles             Doubles          Overall

1 .Nathan Call(Jr.)                     20-3                  13-0                33-3

(* Nathan was Conf. Player of the Year, Regional Singles runner-up and got to semis in State Tourney in Cary for 2nd straight yr.)

6. Zach Wright(Jr.)                     19-0                   9-3                 28-3

*Contributing to this individual success above were also some younger up and coming players-Macon Bryan(Fr.), Morgan Barnes(Fr.), Ethan Coghill(Fr.), Caison Kearney(Soph.) and Jayden Arriaga(Fr.).  These young men continue to work hard and hope to play an even bigger role next year while Katelynn McDermott(Sr.) served as team manager/coach/statistician and keeping the boys straight. We wish 3 of our players good luck in their future endeavors as Katelynn heads to Lees-McRae and will play tennis there, Nathan Call is moving to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii(Hickam AFB) and Drew Huff will end his successful HS career with multiple championships in soccer and now tennis but taking his talents to play soccer at Mt. Olive Univ.

As a team, CBA won the conference(12-0), had a perfect regular season record(16-0) and finished the season 19-1 overall. The Golden Falcons amassed 150 team match wins vs. only 12 losses and in many instances blanking their opponents, 9-0.  Currently, the team is ranked #4 in latest 5A state poll and received the 5A Men's Tennis Regional Runner-Up Plaque which will be displayed in front trophy case.
