We are proud that Goldsboro’s varsity men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes participated in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association African American History Month program titled “The Education-Based Athletics Legacy of Norvell Lee” at the Simon F. Terrell Building.

Throughout the day, our student-athletes engaged in a curated memorabilia presentation, heard from former players, family members, and athletics leaders during an interactive panel discussion, and participated in a Socratic seminar reflecting on Coach Lee’s impact during segregation and integration.

This experience was about much more than attendance; it was about legacy, leadership, and giving our student-athletes a chance to understand the shoulders on which they stand, and the enduring influence of education-based athletics in shaping communities and lives.
