Charles B. Aycock High School junior Kannyn Fail and freshman Mallorie Spriggs won the 2026 Eastern 5-A Regional Women's Tennis Tournament doubles title on Monday at Barton College in Wilson with a 6-1,6-2 victory over Lillian Blaylock and Helen Boyette of Croatan High School.
Fail and Spriggs improved to 20-0 overall with the win.
They will represent Aycock at the NCHSAA 5-A State Individual Championships October 23-24 at Ting Park in Holly Springs.

All 3 girls represented CBA very well on Tuesday at the 5A east regional golf tournament held at Wedgewood in Wilson.
Sophie Lester Veal, Mikyla Cosgriff, and Kate Horton played well in a very tough and cold wind.
Mikyla missed going to the state tournament by 1 shot.
Kate Horton qualified for the State tournament at Sabona Country Club next Monday and Tuesday.
Kate finished 15th out of 50 girls.

Please make sure that your physicals are current and that your forms are signed in Final Forms before November 2nd so that you can try out. If you have any questions see any coach for help.
Congratulations to the volleyball team for their win over Eastern Alamance yesterday. They advance to the 3rd round of the State Playoffs and will travel to Cedar Ridge on Thursday to take on the number 2 seed Red Wolves. The F.A.L.C.O.N. Club in collaboration with AYC took on one of the hottest days in October for a great cause!
Despite the heat, 22 students volunteered their time to participate in our school’s Adopt-A-Highway initiative. Together, they collected 13 bags of trash. A special thank-you to Dream-Makers Mattresses for generously providing pizza for our hardworking volunteers! We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Pikeville Police Department and Chief Rodney Jarman for escorting our students and ensuring their safety throughout the cleanup.
We are so proud of these students for their willingness to serve others and make a positive difference in our community!
The Charles B. Aycock High School Lady Golden Falcons will play host to Hillsborough Orange in the third round of the state playoffs on Tuesday, October 20th at the Luke Vail Tennis Courts in Pikeville at 4:00 p.m.. Orange defeated Cedar Ridge 7-2 in the second round this afternoon to improve to 17-4 overall.
Charles B. Aycock High School junior Kannyn Fail and freshman Mallorie Spriggs were unanimously selected as the number one seed in doubles Friday afternoon at the annual NCHSAA 5-A Women's Tennis Regional Tournament at Barton College in Wilson. Fail and Spriggs compiled an overall record of 16-0 during the regular season and entered the event with a doubles UTR of 8.11.
The winter sports season is quickly approaching! There will be an Indoor Track interest meeting on Wednesday, October 21 in the Media Center. Congratulations to our Golden Falcons Women’s Tennis team for becoming the #3 seed in the East for the upcoming NCHSAA 5-A Dual team state playoffs. With this seeding, the Lady Golden Falcons have a bye in the opening round of the tournament, which begins on Monday, Oct. 12.The Charles B. Aycock High School Lady Golden Falcons will open play in the NCHSAA 5-A dual team playoffs in the second round on Wednesday, October 14th at the Luke Vail Tennis Courts in Pikeville against Southern Nash or South Granville High School. (These two teams will play in the first round)
Congrats to the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams - both finished their regular season last night with wins overs Southern Wayne. The team is currently ranked 16th in the 5A classification. The CBA SkillsUSA Club is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday Nov. 4th in the main gym. Stop by the table in the front lobby during lunches on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays to sign up to donate. You must be 16 years old and have parent permission.
Anyone ages 15 and under who would like to play basketball in the Falcons Community League, see Mrs. Pittman in room 518 for a registration form. The fee is $90 and the league is open for boys and girls. Games will be held on Saturdays starting in January.

The CBA Lady Falcons won another close conference match 6-3 over perennial nemesis, Fike, in Wilson Tues. afternoon.
The victory now propels the team to a 7-2 conference record while 14-3 overall. CBA is currently ranked #6 in state in latest 5A NC HS Tennis Coaches Assoc. Poll and #1 seed in East according to RPI standings on NCHSAA website for team playoffs in the postseason.
The Lady Falcons will return to action at home Thurs. vs. Bear Grass Charter with 1st serve set to begin at 3:30pm.
