Good Afternoon Warrior Family!
This is Mr. Jones, the proud principal of EWHS. We hope each of you has had a wonderful and safe weekend and are ready for the upcoming week.
Here are a few announcements that we need to communicate to you all.
Parents and Students! The WCPS Technology Use Agreement, which allows students to access WCPS Technology Devices was sent home the first week of school. These should be returned signed and given to Mr. Radford in the Media Center. Students have until September 12th to get these turned in. If students do not turn these forms in, they will not be allowed to use any WCPS Device.
Parents! Community involvement and support is how we bridge the relationship between the home and school! Please mark your calendars for the following dates. On September 16th we will have an English Language Learners Parent Night. On October 2nd we will have our Senior Parent Night and on October 16th we will have our Junior Parent Night. All of these events will begin at 6:00. We encourage you to participate in these opportunities as our counselors and school leaders will discuss important items to ensure your child is prepared to finish out their high school careers and to begin planning for post secondary education and plans. Information will be posted on our school website and Facebook pages in the coming days.
As a reminder Cell Phones & Electronic Devices are not permitted during the school day at any time and also can not be visible.
Seniors! Your Senior Trip which is scheduled during Spring Break 2026. We will be taking your first payment of $250 on September 10th between class changes in the main lobby by the front office. Your first payment is due by September 15th. Cash and Check are the acceptable forms of payment. If you are writing a check, please make the check out to Eastern Wayne High School. Be on the lookout for emails from me with updates and reminders in the coming weeks.
Here is the rundown of athletic events this upcoming week. On Tuesday, Men’s Soccer will travel to Ayden Grifton HS at 5:00. On Tuesday, the Men’s Soccer team will host Rosewood at 6:00 and the Women’s Volleyball team will travel to SW Edgecombe at 4:30 for their match. On Wednesday, Cross Country will have an away meet at West Craven beginning at 4:00. To wrap up our athletic week, Varsity Football will travel to Middle Creek for their away game at 7:00. We hope to see each of you out to support our Warriors.
Lastly, please mark your calendars for Monday, September 15th as we will hold our first Athletic Booster Club meeting in the Cafeteria at 6:00.

Tomorrow, September 1st, there will be no school for students and or staff as we celebrate the Labor Day Holiday. Take this extra day for some much needed relaxation.
We had a wonderful 1st week of school at EWHS! It was great to see all the students returning for the 2025-2026 school year and to see students actively engaged in their lessons and following school wide expectations. Beginning of the year class meetings were held this past week to review expectations and how to have a successful high school experience and year.
Here are a few announcements that we need to communicate to you all.
Thank you to the car rider parents for being patient as we navigate this new school year. As you know the first couple of weeks are always the toughest as we work out traffic logistics to ensure students arrive and depart campus safely and orderly. In the coming days, the NCDOT will be installing turn lanes in our carpool parking lot which will alleviate congestion with traffic and will ensure safe exits off campus are done.
Please be advised there will be no afternoon route for Bus 477 for the foreseeable future. Students who ride Bus 477 will need to arrange for alternate transportation home in the afternoons.
In the coming weeks, we will hold a Senior Parent Night, Junior Parent Night and English Language Learner Parent Night. We encourage you to participate in these opportunities as our counselors and school leaders will discuss important items to ensure your child is prepared to finish out their high school careers and to begin planning for post secondary education and plans.
