An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Saturday, August 26th, 2023 at 1:00 PM: Hello Golden Falcons family: Hope you enjoy our last weekend of summer before our 2023-24 School Year officially begins on Monday, August 28th! We had great turnout at both our 9th Grade Open House and our 10th / 11th / 12th Grade Open House this week and look forward to a great first week of school! A few reminders: Our school day is from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM each day. Please arrive early to school and be patient if you are a car rider as we anticipate long lines as everyone learns / re-learns the system for morning drop off and arrival to our campus. Students may arrive anytime after 7:30 AM and may wait in the Cafeteria upon arrival until our bells ring to transition to class. Remember, we will transition to Homeroom for the first 45 minutes of the day each day this week. From Homeroom, we will transition to 1st Period and then on to our other classes throughout the remainder of our day. Please help us meet our expectation that we should not see cell phones, earbuds, or other personal electronic devices throughout our instructional day. From the time our students enter our school buildings to the time they exit our school, we should not see these devices per our new WCPS Cell Phone / PEDs Policy and CBA expectations. Also, please remember to attend school on time as we will maintain our CBA Tardy Policy this year. Please also dress appropriately for school, as we will also enforce our WCPS Dress Code. Also, remember that once our students are issued their lockers, then we will not allow students to carry bookbags, large bags, cinch sacks, etc throughout our school during the school day. Lastly, remember that we place a premium on our expectations for a safe, orderly, and respectful educational environment at CBA. Students who fail to meet our expectations for behavior will receive the appropriate disciplinary action per our WCPS / CBA Discipline Matrix. Congratulations to Coach Z and our Varsity Football Team for their 2-0 start to the season with big wins over county rivals Rosewood HS and Eastern Wayne HS! The Band, Student Section, Cheerleaders, Fire Truck, Band Boosters Ice Cream Truck, Athletic Boosters Concession Stand, Coach Luke Vail on the mic, and our Loyal Golden Falcons Fans make Friday Night Lights at CBA very special! Congratulations to Coach Z and our Varsity Football Team on a great win last night over Rosewood! Kudos to our Students, Families, Fans, and Community for showing out with a big crowd, which was awesome especially considering that school has not started back yet! The Band, Student Section, Cheerleaders, and Booster Club Concessions stand (Best in the East!), all added to the electric atmosphere and huge win! We've had a great start to our Fall Sports season, with Volleyball, Men's Soccer, Women's Tennis, JV Football, and Varsity Football all getting early victories in our early seasons! A Great Fall Sports season always sets the tone for a great school year, so keep up the great work student-athletes and coaches! CBA PE Uniforms! In 2023-24, all students taking PE and/or Weight Training classes will be able to purchase a PE Uniform to meet WCPS Dress Code. $25.00 per set (includes shorts and T-shirt). CBA - Meal Prices for 2023-24 CBA will return to charging students for Meals this 2023-24 school year. We will continue to follow the traditional free/reduced meal application method. There will be no increase in student meal prices for the 2023-2024 School Year. Student breakfast will be Universal Free. Full price student lunch - $2.35 Reduced price student lunch - .40 More information will be shared at next week's Open House nights and on further announcements. Thank you!

Aycock High School for Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 at 3:00 PM: Hello Golden Falcons Family: As we inch closer to the start of our 2023-24 school year, I want to take time to review some very important expectations we have for our CBA Golden Falcons: Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Devices: Please note that this year, students will not be allowed to use cell phones and/or personal electronic devices at any point during the school day. No Cellphones should be visible at any point during the school day and will be confiscated and returned to the parents if a student does not meet this expectation. This includes Lunch, transitions between class, and during the instructional time of our school day. This will be a foundational cornerstone for our school's success. A Safe and Respectful Learning Environment: We will maintain our high expectations for our students to act in an appropriate manner for our high quality educational environment. Students who can not act in an appropriate manner will be assigned appropriate disciplinary consequences for their actions and inappropriate behavior. This will be a foundational cornerstone for our school's success. Attendance: Research shows that students who attend school perform better in their academic pursuits, therefore we will continue to place a premium on student attendance. Last year our student attendance rate was 93.3 %, but we strive for a 97% or higher attendance rate and need your help in reaching our standard this year. This will be a foundational cornerstone for our school's success. Protecting Instructional Time: We also place a premium on protecting instructional time for our students and teachers, therefore, we will limit intercom announcements and classroom disruptions, to include an emphasis on our No Tardy Policy to protect the educational opportunity of all of our students during instructional time.
