An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Sunday, 6.9.2024: Hello Golden Falcons Family! It was another great year at The Flagship and we look forward to bringing our 2023-24 school year to a wonderful close with our Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, June11th at 9:00 AM. A few reminders for our Graduation Week: -On Monday June 10th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, we will have our Mandatory Graduation Practice for our Class of 2024. Each Graduate who plans to participate and walk during our Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony MUST participate in this mandatory practice. -Please arrive early for our practice, as we will start promptly at 9:00 AM in the New Gym. -Please wear casual attire that is still WCPS Dress Code compliant for our graduation practice. -We recommend that you wear the shoes that you plan to wear during our Graduation Ceremony during practice in order to make sure you can comfortably walk in them on the field and stage. -We will distribute seven tickets to each graduate at graduation practice. Four of these tickets will be gold with three of them being blue. You may use all seven tickets if our ceremony is held outside at our Hardy Talton Stadium Field. -In the event of inclement weather, we will hold our ceremony inside our New Gym, and the four gold tickets will be used for admission into the New Gym for our indoor ceremony. -We highly recommend that everyone arrive early for our Graduation event, as we expect a large crowd and parking will be limited. -Please remember that at NO point should any parents, guardians, family members, or friends who are in attendance for our ceremony come onto the field area. The graduates will leave the field area to greet their family and friends for celebration hugs and photos at the conclusion of our ceremony. A Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Sunday, 6.2.2024: Hello Golden Falcons Family! Hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful Eastern North Carolina weather on the 1st weekend of June! We look forward to a great week of Final EOC Exams this coming week! We should release each day after our exams are finished around 12:30 PM. Students who are in good standing for attendance should only come on their EOC Exams days. Seniors in the Class of 2024, please remember to pay all senior fees and any other fees owed. Also, remember to turn in all uniforms, books, calculators, and / or school property this week by Wednesday June 5th in order to participate in our Graduation Ceremony. Seniors please remember that we have Mandatory Graduation practice on Monday, June 10th from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. We will begin our practice in the new gym and then transition to the stadium field. You MUST participate in our Mandatory Graduation Practice in order to walk in our Graduation ceremony. We will distribute Graduation Tickets during Graduation practice. Each graduate will receive seven (7) tickets for our outdoor ceremony with four (4) of those tickets denoted for indoor use should we need to move our ceremony indoors into the New Gym due to Inclement Weather. If you need additional tickets please work this out with fellow classmates who may not need or plan to use all of their allotted tickets. Our Graduation Practice is for our Class of 2024 graduates and our CBA Faculty & Staff only. It is closed to parents / families and the general public. Our Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 at 9:00 AM. It will be held at this date and time regardless of the weather. If the weather is nice, then we will be outside on the Hardy Talton Stadium Field. If inclement weather, then we will be inside in the New Gym. A Message from CBA for Saturday 5.25.24: Hello Golden Falcons Family! Hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day Weekend! Let's all find a moment to reflect and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom! A few reminders for our last couple of weeks of school: No School for Students or Staff on Monday, 5.27.24 as we honor our Memorial Day Holiday Tuesday, 5.28.24 is our last day before we begin Testing. Wednesday, 5.29.24 through Friday, 5.31.24 will be our Teacher Made, Common Formative Assessment, and Project Based Measurement assessments / Exams. Friday, 5.31.24 is our Powderpuff events (Volleyball and Football) to begin at 3:30 PM in the New Gym for Volleyball and then transition out to the football field. Monday, 6.3.24 through Friday, 6.7.24 will be our EOG Exams. Please review our EOG Exams schedule via email shared with everyone as it has changed some this year from what we have done in the past, in order to better accommodate our ability for students to retest this year. Friday, 6.7.24 is our last official day of school and also our EOG Exams make-up day. Our Mandatory Class of 2024 Graduation Practice will be held on Monday, 6.10.24 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. If you or your child are interested in learning more about a three-year accelerated graduation pathway, we will be holding a brief parent meeting on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at 6:00 PM. This meeting is being held for all rising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students, with all rising 9th grade students meeting in the CBA New Gym and all rising 10th and 11th grade students meeting in the CBA Media Center. During this meeting we will share a 9 minute video that details information regarding both the traditional graduation pathway and the accelerated graduation pathway. We will also have a brief question and answer session. Based on the NC State Board of Education emergency rule, any rising 9th grade student and their parent / legal guardian must attend a meeting with a school administrator before they can request being a part of the Three-Year Accelerated Graduation pathway, and this Parent Meeting will complete this requirement. Students please focus your full attention and efforts on finishing our 2023-24 school year strong! Our Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 at 9:00 AM on our Hardy Talton Stadium Field! Each graduate will be provided 7 tickets for the ceremony with 4 of those tickets being designated for indoor use in our new gym should we need to move our ceremony inside due to inclement weather. Congratulations to our CBA Golden Falcons Marching Band member, Josephine Simmons on her successful audition for the Macy’s Great American Marching Band! Josephine will march in the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on November 28th, 2024. Honoring America’s finest high school musicians, color guard members and dancers, this band will be comprised of 185 hand picked musicians from across the United States. “Once again, this prestigious band will take an honor position among the gigantic helium balloons, impressive floats carrying celebrities, and the nation’s top marching bands. Stepping off from Central Park, the Band will be cheered by the 3.5 million spectators lining the parade route. Arriving at Macy’s Herald Square, the Band will perform for celebrity hosts, a grandstand audience, and more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on NBC.” Josephine worked extremely hard to perfect her audition and deserves this tremendous honor! As we move into May, we have now officially hit the short rows of our 2023-24 school year! With only 23 more school days until our Final Exams, we need everyone to have a singular focus to our mission of high quality teaching and learning from bell to bell in every class, every day, for every student! With that being said, we ask for our students and parents to help us with the following: Attendance - it is more important than ever that all students attend school everyday from here to the finish! Tardies - we need all students to get to class on time to protect our instructional time! No students in the hallways during instructional time. The sign of a great school as we truly focus 100% of our efforts on preparing our students for our final exams and finishing the school year strong! Adherence to dress code, so as to not become a distraction to our educational environment! Adherence to our disciplinary expectations, so as to maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly school for our academic pursuits! Adherence to our "No Cell Phone" policy, so as to limit distractions and keep our focus on our academic growth and success! We thank you in advance for your assistance with these expectations.
